A controlled launcher for authenticated users
Purpose
What the launcher does
The launcher is designed for StellaUniverse content distribution. Users receive a StellaUniverse license key after purchasing or receiving access to a specific content package. After sign-in and license verification, the launcher downloads the files required by that content package and starts the game using the administrator-defined configuration.
Content packages may include runtime configuration, Fabric loader information, resource files, settings, and optional content-specific assets. Users are not asked to manually configure loader, mod, or runtime details when the administrator has already defined the intended setup.
Authentication
Official account-based verification
StellaUniverse Launcher uses Microsoft device code authentication for desktop sign-in. The user signs in through the official browser-based Microsoft flow. The launcher then uses Microsoft, Xbox Live, XSTS, and Minecraft Services authentication tokens only for the steps required to verify the user's game profile and prepare a legitimate game launch session.
The launcher does not bypass ownership checks, authentication checks, license checks, multiplayer safety features, or platform security restrictions. StellaUniverse content access is additionally protected by a separate StellaUniverse license key system.
Privacy
Local token storage and limited data use
The application never asks for or stores Microsoft account passwords. Authentication is completed through the official Microsoft sign-in page. Refresh tokens, when present, are stored securely on the user's local Windows account and are used to reduce repeated sign-in prompts.
StellaUniverse stores only the minimum account information needed for the launcher experience, such as profile identifier, player name, token expiration state, content license status, and session activity required for license enforcement.

Designed for legitimate access

- Does not request, capture, transmit, or store account passwords.
